Steffany L. Mohan, DDS

Meet Dr. Mohan
"It is an honor and a privilege to serve the patients in our practice; they are the reason I come to work with a smile on my face every day. I enjoy meeting new patients and getting to know them and their families as we work together to improve their oral health. I appreciate it when patients want to play an active role in their dental experience. I joined the oral healthcare field to help change the way people think about going to the dentist’s office. When patients tell me that they didn’t like to visit the dentist before, but now they love it, I know I’ve been successful!

I have been blessed with such an amazing team. There is not a day that goes by that I am not incredibly proud of each of them and how hard they work to make patients comfortable and happy. We work hard, but we enjoy each other and our patients immensely. The main thing that makes the team here at Plaza Dental Group special is that they care about patients beyond our office. We have a true family of patients here, and it is the special bond that you only find in Iowa!" — Dr. Mohan

Education and Experience
A native of Ottumwa, IA, Dr. Mohan earned her Bachelor of Science in agricultural biochemistry at Iowa State University and completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Iowa. She enjoys attending continuing education courses that include ways that patients can improve their quality of life and have a healthy, beautiful mouth and smile. Most recently, Dr. Mohan has completed courses for Invisalign®, implants, and other areas of dentistry that can help patients to look and feel better and have improved function for chewing and smiling.

Outside the Office
Dr. Mohan lives in Clive, IA, with her husband, Mike, and their four wonderful, sweet, crazy kiddos, Luke, Camaryn, Halle, and Josh. They also have a rather large, lovable cat named Nahla. As a family, they love to swim, bike, play golf and tennis, and hang out watching movies. Dr. Mohan can also be found at the farm and spending lots of time outdoors. She loves to read and would stay up all night with a good book if she could!

Dr. Mohan is also active in the community and volunteers for the mobile dental clinic, Mission of Mercy, Saving Smiles, Halloween Candy Buy Back, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Donated Dental Services.

Leslie A. Ehlen, DDS

Meet Dr. Ehlen
"My goal is to try to make each patient feel as comfortable in the dental chair as possible, especially if they’ve had bad dental experiences in the past or are extremely anxious. I learn so much from my patients; their different backgrounds, experiences, and personalities enrich my life. I appreciate their kindness and sincerity and hope that they feel that from me in return. The Plaza Dental Group team’s priority is for the patient first and foremost. We do our best to make sure the experience is pleasant and seamless from start to finish." - Dr. Ehlen

Education and Experience

A native of Des Moines, IA, Dr. Leslie Ehlen attended the University of Iowa, earning her Bachelor of Science degree, and continued on to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where in 2007, she graduated with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. To keep current and develop a deeper understanding of the techniques and issues involving dentistry, Dr. Ehlen continues her education through numerous local and national organizations.

Outside the Office

Dr. Ehlen resides in Des Moines with her husband, Josh, their daughter, Elizabeth, and a Shih-Tzu named Lily. Her free time is spent jogging, reading, being active in her church, and being with friends and family. Above all, being a mother is Dr. Ehlen’s greatest joy in life.

James D. Elliott, DDS

Dr. James D. Elliott graduated from The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2006. Dr. Elliott was the class Vice President from 2003-2006 and received a class leadership award in 2004. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and Des Moines District Dental Society. Dr. Elliott has taken many continuing education courses involving Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. In his spare time, Dr. Elliott likes to play golf and spend time outdoors. Dr. Elliott has a wife, Laura and loves to spend time with family and friends.

Education and Experience

Dr. James Elliott is a native of Ottumwa, IA, and graduated from the University of Iowa with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2006. Since then, he has continued his education through advanced courses in implants, Invisalign®, sleep apnea, and cosmetic dentistry, allowing him to keep up with the best technology to offer his patients.

Outside the Office

Dr. Elliott currently resides in West Des Moines with his wife, Laura, and their son, Grayson. Most of his free time is spent with his family, but when he gets the chance, Dr. Elliot loves a good game of golf and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also volunteers with the Iowa Mission of Mercy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, and Donated Dental Services.
